Why I got into this profession

I was working in Public Accounting when the Great Recession hit, and saw how my immigrant parents and our community were terrified about losing their American Dream. They kept turning to me for help thinking I knew what was going on because I was an accountant at a big fancy firm. However, as an auditor we only review things after they have happened, and do not have the ability to take proactive action.  I no longer wanted to sit on the sidelines; I wanted to help people figure out their finances. That mission set me on a path to study for my CFP(R) and find a place where I could help people achieve peace of mind around their personal finances.

From that day on, I spent the next 12+ years working in various operational roles at a wealth management firm where I was able to apply my technical skills from accounting to help build a successful business.  During my time, I also saw firsthand how talented financial planners were able to help folks with their finances.  I finally felt I was applying my skills in a way that was helping people reach their financial goals.

In 2023, I found a new mission when my husband Scott and I had our first beautiful baby boy who had a rough start in life. We spent the first 5 months of his life at Children’s Hospital navigating a number of complex medical diagnoses. Thankfully, by the grace of God, he’s doing well and thriving today - joyfully wreaking havoc on our lives.

Throughout this journey, we found ourselves building a strong community of dedicated providers, caregivers, and other families of children with Down Syndrome. It truly takes a village, and I want to be part of that village, supporting other families with loved ones who have special needs.

Educational Experience & Career Path

I am a proud UCLA Bruin and hold both the CPA and CFP® certifications. I started my career in Public Accounting at Ernst and Young and then worked at a smaller regional firm.

Prior to joining Quantum, I was the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer (and Partner) at a large wealth management firm, where  I learned the intricacies of how to build and run a wealth management company.  I enjoyed the rigors of the back office. In my leadership roles, I oversaw Compliance, Client Service, Trade Operations, Billing, Technology and HR. I was also in charge of various data conversion projects and onboarding advisors who had merged their practice into the firm.

Outside of Work

My husband, Scott, and I wish we had more free personal time but are happily engrossed with running around chasing our lively toddler. When I do have free time, I am a remedial Ashtangi, like to go hiking and spending time with friends.
