  1. Use a password manager, and adopt multi-factor authentication.

  2. Monitor your credit regularly by obtaining a free credit report, or freeze your credit.

  3. Maintain a culture of skepticism. When in doubt, delete! Or, hang up the phone.

  4. Trust your instincts. If it doesn't seem right, you're probably right.
